As a shopper, it's unusual thing when a retailer promotes the idea that people should consume less. In fact, with two-for-one sales, embellished packaging, merchandising and elaborate store design and displays, "buy more" is almost always a store's central theme. That is until P'lovers, the environmental department store, opened its doors in Halifax in 1992.

Having a personal interest in environmental issues, Ann Caverzan and Liz Crocker, began their new adventure. "P'lovers," explains Ann, "was created to help people live more sensitively with the earth. We believe that the actions of each and every one of us can positively affect the quality of the world in which we live." Like all successful businesses, Ann and Liz not only had a passion for preserving the environment, but they also found a market niche in which they could funnel their passion. Through research, they noted that there was an emergence of environmental products, but not a single location one could go to find them. P'lovers filled this niche and now has over 500 products to choose from, including clothing, dishes, personal care products, cleaning products, water conservation products, jewelry, paper, cards, journals and more......
